Tae Kwon Do Mean to Me – By Whitney Partlow

Tae Kwon Do means the world to me.It is like a home to me and every time I think about it makes me smile.I come 5 days a week and I bring my best smile and attitude with me.I used to think that Tae Kwon Do was just for defense, but as the days grew into months and the months grew into years, that thought has been washed away.Tae Kwon Do is not just about kicking, punching, and hurting people it’s about becoming a better person in life.

It’s a way of life. It’s becoming more respectful for the ones you love and the ones around you, and this has impacted me massively.

In the years I have been here (5 exactly) I have made major improvements.I have become more focused and have gained a lot of confidence.Confidence like I have never had before. I mean, I’ve changed my attitude and have become a better person.

I admit I was selfish and lacked many things, but now I feel indestructible and feel like I’m on top of the world. That wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for Master Shin, oh yes, Master Shin. He has a huge part in this. All through the years I have been here he is the one that has pushed me to the edge of my cliff, and that is just what I needed. For example you know that flying side kick I used to dread all the time? Well banish that thought! I can actually jump over obstacles now! It’s a miracle! It was Master Shin who had helped me though all of the difficult moments that I have dealt with. I cannot say THANK YOU enough. Now you see what I mean, major mprovements.

Now back to the real point of What Tae Kwon Do means to me.It means respect, honor, and loyalty. These are three things that have helped me through my life. These are things that not only my family has given me, but what everyone at Tiger’s Black Belt Academy has given me as well as a chance to prove that I am a good person and I do belong in this world.Thank you Master Shin for the great opportunity, and I would like to also like to thank my Mom, Dad, Tony, Michael, Grandma Jerri, Sierra, Will, Grandpa, Christine, and Granny as well as all of my friends that I have made here because you guys are awesome.

A special thanks goes to Tiara for always saying you got this and giving me a giant high five when I succeeded. This is what Tae Kwon Do means to me.
